Jacek Domagala

Henryk Jacek Domagala is a Polish Violinist born in 1961, Wrocław.

At the age of seven he started playing the Violin in Primary Music School which continued through to Secondary Music School. After his schooling, he attended The Wrocław Music Academy where he completed his Violinist Master’s Degree in the year of 1985.

Once having finished his education he started playing violin for the Wrocła Philharmonic Orchestra. With them he travelled the world, playing in countries such as Germany, Soviet Union, Holland, France, Norway, Italy, Denmark etc.

In 1990 after auditions in Warsaw, he was offered a position in the National Orchestra in Johannesburg and together with his wife Mirosława Domagała and two children he moved to South Africa. After just two years they both could not refuse an offer from the beautiful mother city of Cape Town and joined what was then, the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra. Today they are two of the forty five musicians in the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra.

Apart from playing in a professional Orchestra Henryk also extensively performs on the stages with smaller groups throughout Southern Africa. One of the shows in which his musical talent was magically brought forward was the Tango show "Del Fuego" together with accordionist Stanislav Anguelov, pianist Albert Combrink, double bassist Charles Lazar and guitarist Basil Heald from the Cape Town Tango Ensemble.

Together with the Cape Town Tango Ensemble he took part in the Windhoek Festival, Oudtshoorn Festval including concerts at La Motte Wine Estate, Stellenbosch, Muizenburg, Barrydale, Bellville City Hall, Hermanus, Valve - Cape Town and many Private Functions. His first CD titled: "Tango en Africa" was recorded with the Cape Town Tango Ensemble which is available in popular Music stores.

Another group Henryk is involved with is the Simcha Klezmer Band which performed many concerts in Durban as well as concerts at the Baxter Theatre. He also recorded Violin Sessions for a CD for a South African artist called Valiant Swart.
